On Friday, October 3, The United States Postal Service will officially introduce The 50s Fins and Chrome 42-cent First Class stamp collection in a ceremony on the Carlisle Stage. This collection of 50 million Detroit classics will roll out of the nation’s 37,000 Post Office show rooms as the second issuance in the America on the Move commemorative stamps series. The 50s Fins and Chrome collection features paintings by renowned automobile illustrator Art M. Fitzpatrick of a ‘57 Chrysler 300C, ‘57 Lincoln Premier, ‘57 Pontiac Safari, ‘57 Studebaker Golden Hawk and a ‘59 Cadillac Eldorado. The stamps were modeled after cars that are still on the road today and some of the magnificent vehicles will be on display on the Carlisle Stage throughout Fall Carlisle.

On Sunday October 5, during the Fall Swap Meet, Carlisle will host our first annual Cruise-In. We would like to invite all of you “Sunday Drivers” out there to enjoy a fun gathering of cars and friends at the Fairgrounds. You will find cars surrounding the stage and last minute deals in our huge Swap Meet and Car Corral. Shop and enjoy the good food while others admire your car and you compete for one of our Top 10 picks for Best: Chrysler, GM, Ford, Truck, Bike, Import or even Rat Rod. Registration is only $5 for a car/driver or $10 for a car/carload (2 or more guests). Gates open at 7:00 AM and all show vehicles should enter through Gate 3. Judging will take place between 11:00 AM and NOON, with awards being announced at the stage at 1:00 PM.

An antique-style Harley Davidson motorcycle with a side car built by award winning custom shop Vicious Cycles will be auctioned off at the Carlisle Fall Auction, held on the evening of Friday October 3rd and Saturday October 4th at the Carlisle Expo Center which is directly adjacent to the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds. 100% of the proceeds raised will benefit the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Organization and the Tricia Luxenburg Memorial Scholarship. This is a classic motorcycle with modern technology and reliability using a 1200cc Harley Davidson Sportster motor with an aftermarket antique chassis with a fiberglass side car. BK Rodz of Middletown, PA contributed the paint for the project, while many recognizable names including Arlen Ness contributed parts.

Last minute swap meet and car corral spaces that become available are issued on Wednesday morning at the Vendor Services office outside Gate 3. Car corral and swap meet spaces will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 7am. Interested vendors must be selling automotive merchandise. In addition, no T-shirts, clothing, wax, tools, diecast or models will be accepted. Cost for either type of space is $95 per outside space with no renewal rights for the spaces. The free bus service departs every hour on the hour from Gate 2 Wednesday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm.

A non-denominational worship service is held at 9am Sunday morning in the Grandstand. Many vendors are open until 3pm with bargains available.
